Take Me To Church is dark, but not just in that eerie lyrics kind of way. The vocals are low and steady, with sweet melody and a conviction only found in gospel music. The soft amens throughout have this silencing effect that make the chorus' that follow even more powerful, not to mention the deep drums between the two, aiding in the immediacy this song portrays. I image that if Jeff Buckley and Amy Winehouse could have composed a song together it would result in something as passion driven and consuming as Take Me To Church.
